Creating in the Physical & Digital Realms
Interdisciplinary applied artist and designer with over 25 years of experience in creative practice, working across the UK, US, and now based in Edinburgh. Work spans studio-based making, digital design, collaborative projects, and research-driven inquiry into the human experience between nature and evolving technological and urban environments.
Background
Libby Sara Day is a Scottish applied artist and designer whose practice spans more than 25 years, working transatlantically across studio practice, design, and digital culture.
After graduating art college, she spent several years in retail design and visual merchandising, later relocating abroad to expand her creative practice. In 2005 she returned to Scotland to deepen her studies, completing a First-Class Honours degree in Three-Dimensional Design at Robert Gordon University in 2008.
Following graduation, Libby established her studio practice, developing new bodies of work, exhibiting widely, and releasing limited-edition collections. Her work has been recognised by institutions including The Goldsmiths’ Company of London, the Society of Designer Craftsmen, and Creative Scotland. Alongside her studio practice
she has taught art and design, mentored students, and built a parallel career in creative digital consultancy.
In 2014, she continued her transatlantic career as a designer and digital specialist while pursuing commissions, collaborative projects, and commercial design work.
Her current practice examines the human experience within constructed and digital environments, exploring how emerging technologies shape perception, infrastructure, and urban space, and how these shifts affect the human condition.
Libby returned to the UK in 2022 and is now based in Edinburgh. She continues to work transatlantically through her digital agency while developing a new body of work in collaboration with fellow artists for future exhibition.
